Page history last edited by Sarah Thomas 13 years, 7 months ago

Treaty of Paris 1783- Represenatives from Spain, France, Great Britian, and the United States all signed a document to end all hostilites, and this ended the American Revolution. The Treaty was signed on September 3rd, 1783 and was ratified by the Congress of the Confederation on January 14th, 1784. In Britian, it was signed by  Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay. By signing, Britian has to recognize the independence of America. Americans were granted permission to fish in NewFoundlands whenever they wanted, both Great Britian and the United States will now have access to the Mississippi River, but we retained Canada; American loyalist were to be treated fairly. This treaty marked Britian's first major colonial loss. The United States also agreed to pay all outstanding debts to Great Britian. The articles of the treaty hold ten key points.

Well, it didn't just mark the first colonial loss, it also marked the beginning of American independence as well as creating expectations from Spain and France for american support in wars, leading later to conflict when Britain, which many colonists still had an affinity for, was challenged by France.

Nice overall definition, to show another visual representation, maybe you could have put a picture of the actual document as well as a web site describing it.
